Working with over 50 international partners, building an ocean ecosystem of ocean guardians that remains a part of our work today.
With a passion and key focus on ocean protection and the impactful stories that elevate critical awareness Sarah was also the Producer and Impact Producer for the IMAX film, SEA LIONS LIFE BY A WHISKER, (K2 Studios Australia), with a goal of raising awareness about the status of one of the most endangered marine mammals on the planet, the Australian sea lion, which is at risk of extinction within 25 years. With no Federal Government funding and very little State Government funds going into research and monitoring, the impact campaign led to the establishment of a charity called the Australian Sea Lion Recovery Foundation which has raised over AUS150,000 for sea lion recovery which has gone to support major research and monitoring projects. Artesano Productions Impact Producer, Claudia Chatti is a board director and head of partnerships. Through our engagement with NGO’s and State Government the National Australian Sea Lion Recovery Team was established. A collaborative group of experts and stakeholders tasked with coordinating the Australian sea lion's recovery efforts, which includes developing and implementing actions outlined in the species' national recovery plan. The film and impact campaign have been a critical tool in putting the Australian sea lions, extremely vulnerable status clearly on the political agenda by building an ecosystem of partners including the S.A Department of Environment and Water, SARDI, Save our Marine Life, Sea Shepherd Australia, Adelaide Zoo, Flinders University. In 2025, for the first time since 2013 the Australian Federal Government have put funding towards the survival of the species.
Producer and Impact Producer Claudia Chatti joined Artesano Productions in March 2025 to develop and implement the Australian Impact Campaign for OCEAN WITH DAVID ATTENBOROUGH. Working alongside Sarah Beard, they successfully delivered the first phase of the campaign for the Minderoo Foundation and are now delivering Phase 2. For Phase 1 they partnered with 17 ocean conservation org hosts during the theatrical release of the film. Furthermore 48 ocean orgs were represented on the various panel of experts to not only help audiences unpack the issues in the film but to advocate for and inspire behavior change and action. To influence the political landscape in Australia, a 25-minute Decision-makers Cut of OCEAN with David Attenborough made waves during the second sitting week of Australia's newly formed Parliament. Hosted by four leading champions of ocean health - The Pew Charitable Trusts Australia, WWF-Australia, Greenpeace Australia Pacific, and the Australian Marine Conservation Society - the event drew a full house with 26 MPs and Senators spanning the political spectrum: The event saw Federal Environment Minister Murray Watt reaffirm Australia's commitment to strong ocean protections - both achieving 30x30 and ratifying the High Seas Treaty. Ongoing our partners are now planning electorate-focused screening events to deepen constituent support for marine protection among priority MPs. Harnessing the wave of community momentum, Phase 2 will include focusing on State marine parks, advocating for higher levels of protection. During the campaign Claudia has facilitated several international screening events including those hosted by the High Seas Alliance partners which has now seen the Ratification of the High Seas Treaty which is set to enter into force in January 2026 after 60 countries ratify it, which is necessary for it to become legally binding.
