Sea Lions Life By A Whisker Campaign.

With a passion and key focus on ocean protection and the impactful stories that elevate critical awareness, Sarah was also the Producer and Impact Producer for the IMAX film SEA LIONS: LIFE BY A WHISKER, produced by K2 Studios Australia.

The campaign’s goal was to raise awareness about the status of one of the most endangered marine mammals on the planet: the Australian sea lion, which is at risk of extinction within 25 years.

With no Federal Government funding and very little State Government funding going into research and monitoring at the time, the impact campaign became a critical tool in building awareness, partnerships and action for the species’ recovery.

Key campaign outcomes:

  • The impact campaign led to the establishment of the Australian Sea Lion Recovery Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting Australian sea lion recovery

  • The Foundation has raised over AUS$150,000 for sea lion recovery efforts

  • Funds raised have supported major research and monitoring projects

  • Artesano Productions Impact Producer Claudia Chatti is a Board Director and Head of Partnerships for the Foundation

  • Through engagement with NGOs and State Government, the National Australian Sea Lion Recovery Team was established

  • The Recovery Team brings together experts and stakeholders to coordinate Australian sea lion recovery efforts

  • The campaign helped build an ecosystem of partners including the S.A. Department of Environment and Water, SARDI, Save Our Marine Life, Sea Shepherd Australia, Adelaide Zoo, and Flinders University

The National Australian Sea Lion Recovery Team is tasked with coordinating recovery efforts for the species, including developing and implementing actions outlined in the national recovery plan.

The film and impact campaign have played a critical role in placing the Australian sea lion’s extremely vulnerable status clearly on the political agenda.

In 2025, for the first time since 2013, the Australian Federal Government put funding towards the survival of the species.

Ocean Campaign.

Producer and Impact Producer Claudia Chatti joined Artesano Productions in March 2025 to develop and implement the Australian Impact Campaign for OCEAN WITH DAVID ATTENBOROUGH.

Working alongside Sarah Beard, they successfully delivered the first phase of the campaign for the Minderoo Foundation and are now delivering Phase 2.

Key campaign outcomes:

  • 17 ocean conservation organisation hosts partnered during the theatrical release of the film

  • 48 ocean organisations were represented across expert panels, helping audiences unpack the issues in the film and inspiring behaviour change and action

  • A 25-minute Decision-makers Cut of OCEAN WITH DAVID ATTENBOROUGH was presented during the second sitting week of Australia’s newly formed Parliament

  • The Parliamentary event was hosted by The Pew Charitable Trusts Australia, WWF-Australia, Greenpeace Australia Pacific, and the Australian Marine Conservation Society

  • The event drew a full house with 26 MPs and Senators spanning the political spectrum

  • Federal Environment Minister Murray Watt reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to strong ocean protections, including achieving 30x30 and ratifying the High Seas Treaty

Ongoing impact:

Partners are now planning electorate-focused screening events to deepen constituent support for marine protection among priority MPs.

Harnessing the wave of community momentum, Phase 2 will focus on State marine parks and advocating for higher levels of protection.

During the campaign, Claudia has also facilitated several international screening events, including those hosted by High Seas Alliance partners. The campaign has contributed to growing momentum around the Ratification of the High Seas Treaty, which is set to enter into force in January 2026 after 60 countries ratify it, making it legally binding.
